WK 7 DAY 1- WHY I WANT TO TIE THE PROVERBIAL KNOT BY POPE

Hi great pips, happy new week, and I hope the month is ending on a good note. So we had to take a compulsory one week break from the series to re-energize. The week before last was power packed, back-to-back. Thank God for the writers who agreed to share their stories with us. The feed back have been really inspiring.

I remembered when Boo proposed, my world practically stopped for what looked like another lifetime. I was excited ( don't get me wrong), I just was not sure I wanted to marry...and No it was not about him, its just that the reality of marriage was beginning to set in and I wasn't sure I knew if I was ready...That's gist for another day (probably at the end of the week). So I went to Dad to let him know I had seen "The One" and he asked me one question that left me blank...I could not even attempt an answer- WHY DO YOU WANT TO GET MARRIED? I felt "...that's an unfair question to ask me, moreover, you are married nah, abi don't you want me to marry too...". In my head, I felt I was old enough, had seen the one, and just could not understand why I shouldn't want to marry... But beyond the defensiveness, all by myself, I knew I needed to answer this question truthfully.

The thing is, there are no right or wrong answers per se, as long as your reasons are not illegal or harmful or revengeful...ehen. However, I think that there are level to this- levels to the depth of your answer that will determine how well your marriage turns out and whether it lasts or not.

Meanwhile, this week is also special because i'll be featuring GUYS for the first time since the series begun...Yippee!

WHY I WANT TO TIE THE PROVERBIAL KNOT BY POPE! 

Wait did you just read that right? By Pope? What does he know about marriage? Lol, I know this and many more are the kind of questions going through your mind right now. But as wise old woman (Chichi, the owner of this blog) told me, “It is not about knowing a lot about the topic of marriage, but just knowing that one day, you also want to get married and knowing the reason why”... And yes, I’m pretty sure she sounded like that because she’s always so wise. Anyways, here’s my own 50 kobo on why I personally want to get married.

Marriage, the Holy matrimony of Man and Woman into One. For it is written somewhere in the bible that a man will leave his father and mother and cling to one woman. Did you notice the key words? “cling” and ”one woman”, Even the Most High God shows us the first importance of marriage when he created Adam and he saw that he was alone, then he created Eve (from one of Adam’s ribs o) to be a companion and a helper to Adam. 

One important reason I want to get married is for companionship, knowing that there’s someone who I can trust with my life, someone who I can always count on, someone who I can play with, someone who I can bounce ideas off. You get the idea on companionship. You see, women are incredible beings, and I believe that if you find the ones that God has kept for you, your own missing rib, then you will be blessed amongst many. There are a lot of real life stories of how men who listened to their wives advise either escaped a great misfortune such as death or found a great fortune such as wealth via good investments. For example, when they wanted to kill Jesus Christ in the bible, it was the wife of Pontius Pilate who warned him to wash his hands off the case. If he didn’t have a wife and had a concubine or no one at all, he wouldn’t have gotten such a wise counsel because every other person was telling him to kill Jesus. No man is an island, we all need that person by our side that will compliment us where we fall short. We can’t always know it all. Even if you have double PhDs, when it comes to certain things, your wife knows better. Finding your missing rib is good, but just make sure that you don’t go and carry another man’s missing rib, it will wound you.

Another reason I want to get married is so that I can start my own beautiful family, we will stay

slaying all day every day, 7 days a week. I have this image in my head of my wife and I and our first two kids and even in the image, we are killing it. I grew up as an only child for nine years before my only younger brother came to this world, yes so we are only two. So being an only child for a major part of my childhood and then one of two children for the rest, I always felt lonely and I longed for a bigger family. I want to get married so I can have that beautiful family that I always dreamt of.

If I don’t say this one then why did I even start this topic in the first place. I want to get married so I can get to “know” my wife (you know, the same way Abraham knew Sarah and Adam knew Eve). I want to get to know my wife every day. Morning we will know each other, night we will know each other, any chance we get we will use it to know ourselves more, we will keep knowing each other because marriage has given us license to know in the eyes of God and men. So yes my people, I need to know my wife (if you didn’t catch the gist, “to know” is the biblical slang for to have sex).

I look forward to treating any woman who decides to spend the rest of her life with me as a goddess that she is. I’ll do my best to be the best husband in the world and I’ll treat my goddess right. So dear future wife, if you are reading this, I will make you the happiest woman on earth, because I know that I’ll be the happiest man on earth with you by my side for life, all your friends will be jealous of us because they don’t have what we have. Keep being the awesome you that I know you are, we will soon get to that point, don’t worry about how it will happen, it will because you are my missing rib and you have to come back home.
